Personal Note:

As an attendee of many of Jared's talks, owner of Ship It! and Career 2.0, I can say that his books are easy to read and full of insight. If you are already insightful and wise, some of this may be common sense but still useful. His work emphasizes the non-technical part of your work: what to focus on, things to make yourself visible, etc.
